You get used to love and loss when you are a wildlife carer.

Wondering what has that got to do with coaching?? Stay with me …..

Recently, I lost one of my young kangaroos. I found him hanging from a fence, still alive but in a very bad state.

Having manouvered quite a few kangaroos from fences it takes a calmness in the trauma and sheer horror of the injuries, to cut the animal free. It’s about staying calm so the animal stays calm. (and if you think that’s easy in the stress of it all, it’s not).

Little Cloudy roo was rushed to the vet for x-rays, and I spoke to Western Plains Zoo which do advanced work with saving our native wildlife. Sadly their kangaroo vet felt that Cloudy’s extensive injuries were too much.

As a wildlife carer you get used to the circle of life and death.

Doesn’t mean you are unemotional about it.

My sadness on losing our little Cloudy is high.

Yet as a wildlife carer…. I know the next one will be in care soon who needs to have a chance at life. The chance that I can give him.

The stability I’ve learned over the years, how to move on regardless of my emotions, how hard things are, how disappointing, how soul ripping, is a key ingredient to my success as a wildlife carer …… and as a COACH.

When you learn to manage the emotions, to not get carried away with the highs and the lows, to be able to push on through the tough times because you KNOW that just around the corner is a big WIN ….. THEN YOU WILL SURVIVE AND THRIVE IN THE COACHING INDUSTRY.

I’ve seen many coaches give up when the going gets tough, the income gets low …. forgetting in their emotional distress that the WINS are also there . In the past, and in the future.

Your key to SUCCESS WITH YOUR COACHING BUSINESS is at CORE LEVEL ————— It’s the ability to push on no matter what distress you are experiencing. To not let your emotions rule your business (and therefore lack of routine and strategy).

To STAY FOCUSED AND COMMITTED TO THE DREAM YOU GOT INTO COACHING IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR.

(Just like no matter how many baby animals I lose, there are also the many who I save and they go on to live beautiful lives.)

My dream is to save animals. That’s why I have a coaching business. The two work magically together giving me the lifestyle, time, income and resources to be able to work on my mission.
